Thanksgiving Vocabulary Words

Are you looking for a fun way to introduce Thanksgiving vocabulary words to your students?  You can download and print these vocabulary word cards from my TpT store.  There are 15 color images and 15 black and white images with words. You can leave the words attached to the pictures or cut the words and pictures apart and use it for a matching activity.  I like to laminate and use the colored words cards and pictures in my pocket chart.  Then, students love to use the pocket chart model to color and create their own vocabulary words with the black and white images! I hope this resource is useful for you in your classroom!
I would love to see pictures or hear about how you use them with your students!

Pumpkin Numbers 1 - 10

During the month of October, our math series has focused on the numbers 1 - 10 in my Kindergarten classroom.  Students have been working on learning the numbers, printing the numbers and greater than and less than.

We are wrapping up Chapter 2 of My Math around this time of year, and these number printables will be used as an informal assessment with my students.  After students complete these activities, I will have a good idea of any areas that need to be retaught or reviewed.  I hope that these number printables are helpful for you!  They can either be used as a whole group practice activity for review, or as an individual activity for an assessment.
Happy Counting! :)

Math Game

Are you looking for a fun whole group math game to play with your Kindergarten class?  This number guessing game will be sure to get your students excited about numbers!  My Kinders are always eager to have a turn to guess a number and then come up and check and see if they were correct! I use a simple pocket chart to put my number cards in.

The students are practicing number recognition and printing numbers and having fun all at the same time! I hope that you have fun trying this game out with your class!  I will be posting additional number guessing games with different themes and different numbers, so check back often!
Happy Counting! :)

Kindergarten Journeys Unit 2 Sight Word Book

We wrapped up Unit 1 of our Journeys lessons this week by reading the I Like Fall! Emergent Reader.  My Kinders did a great job putting "butter" (yellow crayon) on our sight words (popcorn words): I, like, the, and.

This was the perfect book for my students to review these sight words.  It also was a great confidence booster as they realized they could read the entire book!  I love to hear them say "We Are Readers!".  We say this every time we learn a new book together as a class.

So, it's time to get our Unit 2 Emergent Reader book copied, sorted, cut and stapled.  I will use this book towards the end of Unit 2 after we have introduced the Unit 2 words: we, see, a.

Although this book works great if you use Journeys, it also aligns well with many Kindergarten sight word lists.  I hope it is helpful to use in your classroom!
